A brief history of Krakow:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>

Origins:<\/strong><\/h3>

Krakow was founded around the 7th century and soon became an important trading center in Central Europe. Its location on the Vistula River fostered economic and cultural development.<\/p>

Middle Ages:<\/strong><\/h3>

In the 11th century, Krakow became the capital of Poland and a royal seat. During this period, Wawel Cathedral and Jagiellonian University, one of the oldest in Europe, were built.<\/p>

19th Century:<\/strong><\/h3>

Following the partitions of Poland, Krakow came under Austrian rule within the Austro-Hungarian Empire. It was a center of Polish culture and nationalism during the occupation.<\/p>

The town is small, and from here it's one of the closest points to Auschwitz. From the moment you enter until you leave, you'll have a lump in your stomach and a lump in your throat. Although it's a very difficult experience, we believe it's essential to go. The Spanish-speaking guide makes you feel like you're experiencing it firsthand.<\/p>

The salt mine is impressive, but you can't even see 1% of it because of its abysmal size underground; the guide was very funny.<\/p>

Eat at:\u00a0<\/span>Kuchnia u Doroty<\/u><\/a>\u00a0(IT'S A GREAT DEAL). Excellent service from very young staff, very classic decor. Local food and very generous portions.<\/p>

Hotel B&B Hotel Krak\u00f3w Centrum<\/u><\/a>:<\/u><\/a>\u00a0\u20ac132 for 2 or 3 nights. It wasn't very central, but you could walk there. There was a mini-market next door that was a lifesaver. Recommendation: you have to try the flavored beers.<\/p>

The Auschwitz concentration camp leaves you completely speechless; it's unthinkable that it all really happened. We're very sensitive to these things, but we couldn't resist going. Their story needs to be heard and shared. They offer guided tours in all languages, and our guide made us feel like we were experiencing every moment. It's truly difficult, but as I said, we have to respect them, and it's a way to help them.<\/p>
