Oslo's history in a few lines:<\/strong><\/span><\/h2>

Origins:<\/strong><\/h3>

Oslo was founded around 1049 by King Harald Hardrada. Its location on the Oslofjord made it an important commercial and maritime center.<\/p>

Middle Ages:<\/strong><\/h3>

During the Middle Ages, Oslo was an episcopal see and the capital of the Norwegian kingdom. It suffered several fires and reconstructions, which marked its urban development.<\/p>

19th Century:<\/strong><\/h3>

In the 19th century, Oslo (then called Christiania) experienced significant economic and industrial growth. It became the cultural and political heart of Norway after independence in 1905.<\/p>

We really liked Oslo and also getting around between the islands (you don't need to take a cruise because there are taxis that take you to the nearest islands with incredible views).<\/p>

The island we liked the most was Lind\u00f8ya. It just so happened that there was a local party going on and everyone was smiling, and although they were super friendly, we felt embarrassed to join in.<\/p>

Surrounded by low chalet\/bungalow-style houses, we went swimming there, at a small dock. The water is dark, but the temperature is great in summer\u2014not cold at all, despite being a glacial lake. There are two stops on this island. The downside of taking the ferry back is that during peak hours it sometimes doesn't stop (to be sure, go to the first stop).<\/p>

We generally liked the city, and the weather was fantastic, so there was a great atmosphere everywhere. It's an expensive city, and the most affordable (though still pricey) option is burger joints. Paying with Revolut is ideal.<\/p>

And as you can see in the last photo, you can also do everything by kicking.<\/p>
