Origins:
Bristol surgió como un pequeño puerto anglosajón en el siglo XI, aprovechando su ubicación estratégica en el río Avon. Su nombre proviene de “Brycgstow”, que significa “lugar del puente”.
Middle Ages:
Durante la Edad Media, se convirtió en uno de los puertos más importantes de Inglaterra, destacando en el comercio marítimo con Irlanda y el continente europeo.
19th Century:
En el siglo XIX, Bristol fue un centro clave de la Revolución Industrial, con gran desarrollo en la construcción naval y la industria tabacalera. También fue un punto relevante en el comercio transatlántico.
Present:
Hoy, Bristol es una ciudad moderna y vibrante, conocida por su innovación tecnológica, su escena artística y su compromiso con la sostenibilidad. Es un referente cultural en el suroeste de Inglaterra.
Bristol combina muy bien con Londres por su buena conexión en tren y porque permite unir capital, ambiente creativo y una ciudad con carácter propio en un mismo viaje.
